PRAS team at the enterprises which manufacture Belarusian chess

Mikalaj Tamaševič and Aliaksiej Kuĺbicki visited the enterprises which manufacture Belarusian chess and got acquainted with the production process

On the very last day of July, representatives of art studio PRAS visited the enterprises manufacturing physical boards for Belarusian chess. 

There will be two final versions of the game - gift and ordinary ones. The gift version is made from such fine wood as alder, oak, or bog oak, encrusted with bog oak; the box for chess has been designed in such a way that chess pieces are already in their places when it is opened; pieces themselves are made manually from white and ordinary clay and each of them is a piece of art,  which takes into account and reflects the peculiarities of the appearance of ancient Belarusian troops and Teutonic Order troops. The design of the pieces makes them easily recognizable on the board and you cannot, for instance, take a Ratnik (Pawn) for the Kniažyč (Prince), and the Tower for the Kniaź (King). The ordinary version of the game is represented by a linen board which can be easily folded and will occupy little space and pieces made from epoxy resin which can be used in any conditions and will not be broken.

The next step after making boards is burning out the throne which looks like a traditional Belarusian star which will be encrusted with oak and putting down numbers and letters along the perimeter. Then, there is an attempt to burn out the logo of the game on the box cover and search for a place to list the authors, craftsmen and the studio's logo. The process is controlled by the computer; therefore, changes can be made to achieve the necessary result. After burning out we decided to make a deeper logo, that is why the board underwent the same procedure once again.

As limited edition of the gift version will be released, it has to be perfect.
