Epic board game “1514”

The sales of the game created by art studio PRAS and devoted to the 500th anniversary of the battle of Orša will start in Belarusian stores at the beginning of September

8 September 1514 is known for one of the most important military victories of the Belarusian army: the Litvins defeated the troops of the Grand Duchy of Moscow at the Krapiŭna river near Orša. The 500th anniversary of the famous victory of our ancestors will be marked this year... Meanwhile, we decided to make our own contribution: we created board game “1514”, without any allusions and hints, just to mark the event which is memorable for all modern Belarusians. It is known that a person who does not know his or her history has no future!

Set “1514” includes the following:

▪ Playing field
▪ Thirty red cards with orders
▪ Thirty black cards with actions
▪ Three figures of the Muscovite troops
▪ Three figures of the Litvin troops
▪ Die
▪ Rules
▪ The smell of gunpowder and desire to win

Each element was made according to the historic documents: there is the ancient Orša castle, settlements of that time, mills and military camps in the playing field and drawings of Medieval armament on the cover and cards.
   Game “1514” has the following mechanics: players are divided into teams consisting of the even number of players (2, 4 or 6 players) and they determine who will be Litvins and who will be Muscovites. Next, each player gets one of the three figures, infantry, artillery and cavalry, and in turn throws the die with numbers. If a figure gets on a red circle, a player gets a red card, if a figure gets on a black circle, a player gets a black card and performs the task in the card. If a figure gets on a circle with another figure, they “fight” and the figure of the competitor, being the defender, makes one step back (closer to the camp).

The game can be played by anyone over 6 years old; the average duration of the game is ~45 minutes and the number of players is 2, 4 or 6

  Tasks from cards have a historic connotation: both the cards with orders and the cards with actions contain information which is based on real-life superstitions, events and peculiarities of the military art of the Medieval Eastern Europe. However, no personalities or places are mentioned and this makes the character of the game more generalized.

The sales of the game will start at the beginning of September and the presentation will take place on 8 September 2014 at the Lohvins’ book store. At the moment you can make preorders and buy the game at a discount.
